Torreon – Best Kept Secret in State

3 Min Read

Life at Torreon is far from ordinary, with 36 pine-perfect holes to call your own. Whether you’re a scratch golfer or a novice, you’re sure to love not only the golf courses, but Torreon’s welcoming atmosphere. Members can enjoy a relaxing dip at the clubhouse pool, a refreshing drink or savory meal at Torreon Grille after a long hike, or making s’mores around the fire pit. We asked a few members some of their favorite aspects about our community and here’s what they shared:

Kirt Rosenlof, a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist specialist in Show Low, considers Torreon the best-kept secret in the state. He’s lived at Torreon 11 years and thinks the golf courses are his favorite thing about living there. But that’s not all.

“I was surprised about the Show Low lifestyle and the friends you make here,” Rosenlof said. “It’s a big family.”

April Schneider agrees.

“We are very grateful for the warm, friendly staff that works at Torreon,” Schneider said.

She has lived in Torreon full-time for the past two years, along with her husband and daughter. Schneider considers Torreon the prettiest place on the mountain to live.

“There’s beautiful scenery all around our home, with walking paths and tall pines,” she said. “Bluebirds, deer, elk, wild horses and bears are some of the animals that visit our backyard.”

Schneider said another favorite thing about living at Torreon is that their house sits on the Tower Course and they have mirrored windows.

“Every direction from our home we can see nature at its best!” she said.

Schneider said her favorite things to do in Torreon and Show Low are the 4th of July parade festivities and the Country Concert Torreon hosts in July.

“We love to attend all the parades in Show Low from the 4th of July, the Fall parade, and Christmas,” she said.

Schneider added there are tons of year-round activities.

“In the summer in Show Low, every week something is going on. Farmers Markets, Show Low Days of Summer, plus a variety of bands at several different locations. You could attend all of them because the weather in Show Low is absolutely beautiful all year long!”

Schneider’s family was surprised that the winters are not as bad as they expected.

“Not as cold as you would think and the snow melts quickly,” she said.

Schneider would tell others to consider moving to Torreon. She agrees with Rosenlof that Torreon is the best-kept secret in the state.
