Looking to visit or move to the Show Low, Arizona area in the White Mountains? Here’s eight of local’s top pics to enjoy in this growing White Mountain town.

  1. Show Low Main Street
    You might begin on the city’s main street, aptly named “Deuce of Clubs,” which serves as a constant reminder of the fateful poker hand that ultimately gave birth to Show Low’s name, stemming from a legendary game of poker that took place many years ago between Corydon Cooley and Marion Clark. This interesting tale adds an extra layer of charm to the city’s character. The seasonal farmer’s market on main street, Battle of the Bands and Vans, Trunk or Treat and Santa at the Shoppes events.

    Then, less than two miles away you locals recommend a leisurely stroll around Show Low City Park and maybe have a picnic amidst the park’s picturesque landscapes. Enjoy the basketball court, the playground and the dogs frolicking nearby, a little bit of something for everyone.
  2. Show Low Bluff Trail/Creek Meadow
    Next, it might be time for a leisurely hike along the Bluff Trail, a perfect choice for people of all fitness levels, including those looking for a more relaxed stroll. The path goes through an expansive open meadow, where you might find some noisy frogs, blooming flowers and flourishing plants. Enjoy the highlight of the hike, a bridge over the serene Show Low Creek.

  1. Buffalo Bill’s Tavern & Museum
    After some outdoor activities, it might be time to unwind and enjoy some delicious local food and beer at Buffalo Bill’s Tavern & Museum. You’ll love the authentic western atmosphere and memorabilia. Try the steak, burgers or Friday fish fry.

  2. The Burly Bear    
    Shopping adventure! The Burly Bear has lots of “unbearably” cute gifts to bring back some special memories of Show Low. It’s fun to browse through the art sculptures, kitchen décor, bathroom décor, and much more.

  1. Second Knoll Target Range
    The Second Knoll Target Range is a joint venture between the Arizona Game and Fish Department, the National Forest Service, ADOT, and the White Mountain Shooters Association. The range is under the control of trained volunteer Range Safety Officers whose primary goal is to ensure that everyone remains safe. There’s a 100-yard all-purpose range for public use for rifles and pistols, a 20-point 50 yd. range, and four 20 yd. X 25 yd. competition/training bays.

  2. White Mountain Books
    This is a wonderful local used book shop with a great selection of books at reasonable prices. You can buy, sell or trade books and DVDs. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. The store also sells local honey!

  3. Ride a Horse at Porter Mountain Stables
    Love horses? Take a scenic trail ride through the beautiful Apache Sitgreaves Forest. Porter Mountain Stables has a knowledgeable and friendly staff who provide comprehensive instructions on horse riding. You’ll feel comfortable and confident before setting off on the trail. It’s a family owned and operated business that is a staple in the White Mountain community.
    Location: 3092 Jacks Road, Lakeside, about 8 miles south of Show Low.
  4. Fool Hollow Lake
    You might want to conclude the day with a visit to Fool Hollow Lake to watch a beautiful sunset. Cast your fishing line, take a leisurely boat ride or just gaze at the majestic beauty of the surrounding mountain scenery. The serenity and connection with nature will stay with you.
