Snow Sports at Sunrise Park Near Torreon

Snow sports and Arizona may seem an unlikely duo, but Sunrise Park Ski Area on the White Mountain Apache Reservation near Torreon in Show Low creates a number of opportunities for novice and advanced snow sports enthusiast to discover. 

Sunrise offers:

  • Downhill skiing and snowboarding: Traverse more than 65 runs across three mountains, as well as a terrain park, perfect for every type of rider whether beginner (green) or expert (double black diamond), a young grom or a seasoned downhill veteran. Lessons and rental of skis, snowboards, boots, poles, and other equipment are all available at the base of Sunrise Mountain. Double, triple, and quad chair lifts as well as a magic carpet shuttle skiers up the mountains.
  • Snow Tubing: With a dedicated hill just for tubing, this is a family-friendly activity that creates thrills for all ages.
  • Apache Alpine Coaster: Wind through the serene snow-covered trees on this heart-pumping half mile track that is both scenic and exhilarating.
  • Ski Bikes: Ready for something different? Ski biking (also known as Skibobbing) is available at Sunrise where riders sit on a a bicycle-like frame with skis instead of wheels. The park offers rentals as well as lessons for 13 and up by appointment, and the lifts accommodate the bikes. First-time ski bike riders at Sunrise require a safety certification by the ski bike staff prior to loading the lifts, regardless of their experience or personal equipment to ensure the safety of themselves and other visitors. 
  • Cross Country Skiing, and Snowshoeing: Trails are also available at Sunrise for those looking to enjoy the mountains at a different pace.

Depending upon snowfall, the ski season extends from mid-November to early April. The resort operates daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
