Torreon Earns Top Honors from Golfweek as 20th Best Private Golf Course

3 Min Read

Desert Troon Companies, a Scottsdale-based real estate development and investment firm, is pleased to announce Torreon Golf Club’s Cabin Course has been ranked in the top 20 on Golfweek’s 2025 list of Best 20 Private Golf Courses in Arizona.

Located in Show Low in northeastern Arizona, Torreon offers 36 holes of Championship golf, designed by internationally acclaimed golf course architect Robert Von Hagge and his partners Mike Smelek and Rick Baril.

“This is a big honor being named in the Top 20 as one of Arizona’s most exhilarating and picturesque golf experiences,” said Caleb Blass, PGA, General Manager of Torreon Golf Club. “No other club has what we have here at Torreon. We’re nestled in the White Mountain amidst the largest stand of ponderosa pines in the nation, with mild year-round temperatures that create a serene Championship golf experience just three hours from Phoenix.”

The members of Golfweek’s ratings panel continually evaluate courses and rate them based on 10 criteria on a points basis of 1 through 10. They also file a single, overall rating on each course. Those overall ratings are averaged to produce these rankings. All the courses on the 2025 list are private and don’t accept daily-fee or resort play.

Torreon is known for its beautiful forest backdrop, abundant wildlife, and its award-winning golf courses, Tower and Cabin. Featuring lush, rolling fairways, rock outcroppings and seven lakes throughout the course, Tower offers distinct challenges on many holes. Conversely, the Cabin Course offers a tighter and tougher experience with 7,184 yards of elevation changes and hazards to test golfers’ accuracy.

Both courses offer novice and scratch golfers a challenging outing with plenty of scenic views throughout all 18 holes. The combination draws golfers from far and wide to Torreon’s frequent summertime golf tournaments.

Finished in 2007, the Cabin Course offers a tighter and tougher experience than its sister course. This 7,184-yard gem offers elevation change and hazards that will test your accuracy.

The Tower Course, opened in 1999, features lush, rolling fairways and rock outcroppings that border numerous greens. Seven lakes offer distinct challenges on many holes, as does the aggressive use of bunkers – 180 in all.
