5 Tips to Owning a Second Home at Torreon

3 Min Read

Torreon, Show Low’s premier golf community, is home to year-round residents as well as a large number of people who own second homes. These homes offer the perfect escape from harsh summer temperatures amidst the serenity of a small town.

If a second home is on your horizon, Torreon Realty expert Andrew Escamilla offers these tips:

  1. If you are planning on financing the home, interview a few lenders before allowing one to do a hard hit on your credit. It never hurts to shop around a bit.
  2. Tell your Realtor exactly what you want and need in this second home. Ask yourself: Do you plan to entertain guests more often than not? Are you looking for something quainter and more secluded? Perhaps you would rather purchase a lot to build a home that fits everything you are looking for.
  3. Always read your HOA covenants and bylaws during your inspection period. It is better to find out sooner rather than later that your plans need adjustment or are unfeasible.
  4. Make sure to take care of your second home while you are away. Take into consideration that you may need to winterize your home; have a friend or professional do occasional check-ups and walkthroughs.
  5. If you would like to use this second home as an income stream, make sure short-term rentals are allowed in the neighborhood. If so, that’s a great way to go.

The Torreon Realty team is ready to help guide you through your home buying journey. Whether you’re looking to retire in the White Mountains or simply need a home out of the hustle and bustle of the city, they look forward to working with you. Visit their website to get started.
