3 Tips with Torreon’s Head Golf Pro

3 Min Read

Christian Castrodad, Torreon’s new head golf pro joins the team just in time for prime season when the mild temperatures and cool air of the White Mountains offer an escape from the heat of summer.

As a certified PGA Coach, certified Callaway Golf Fitter, and experienced teaching professional Christian can’t wait to share his knowledge and passion with club members. He shares these three tips with Torreon golfers:

  1. Having a pre-shot routine will make you a lot more comfortable on the golf course.
  1. Work on your short game and set goals for yourself when trying to lower your score.
  1. Practice better speed control on the greens if you want to eliminate the dreaded 3 putt.

His favorite hole at Torreon is number eighteen on the Tower Golf Course. “Even though the golf hole only plays 377 yards, you must make either a risk reward drive down the left side of a split fairway, or play it safe down the right side leaving yourself a long second shot which demands a well placed second shot to a guarded green,” Christian said.

Christian loves teaching golf to people of all ages. “I enjoy watching my students go from the driving range to the course,” he said. “It’s great to hear feedback from someone after a lesson and watch people learn a new skill and get better.”

Christian brings more than 13 years professional experience to the position, and moved to Show Low from Crestview, Florida to join the team mid-April. Most recently the General Manager and Director of Golf at The Golf Club at Bluewater Bay in Crestview, Florida,   Christian is no stranger to Arizona, having previously served as Head Golf Professional at Antelope Hills Golf Courses in Prescott, Arizona.
