Torreon Members Cruise Australia and New Zealand

One of the best aspects of life in a golf club is the fabulous and lifelong friendships you make!  Seven Torreon members, including Julie Marsland, Dennis and Margie Shubin, Gene and Michelle Gregory, Dennis and Diane Hawker, Lou and Roberta Rever recently had the time of their lives when they cruised together to Australia and New Zealand, aboard Oceania Cruise Lines.

Beginning in Auckland, New Zealand, they cruised to Tauranga, Napier, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, Tasmania, Melbourne and Sydney.  At Sydney, (the most beautiful city in the world, according to Margie Shubin) they disembarked and stayed in the city for three days of incredible site seeing including the Sydney Opera House.

Margie, one of Torreon’s very talented photographers, was particularly impressed by the native wildlife….you can view her photographs online The most beautiful?  The Gannett, a large seabird that hunts fish by diving from a height into the sea and pursuing their prey underwater.  The birds mate for life and have adorable offspring.

On January 31 they were cruising the Tasman Sea so the entire group celebrated Julie Marsland’s birthday. They had dinner on the ship in one of the small restaurants, Toscana’s with a special dessert and a kiss from all the waiters

The best part of the trip, according to Margie…..the fact that they were able to spend it with friends.  The Shubin’s later travelled to visit their niece in Wellington, New Zealand, whom they hadn’t seen in nearly 20 years.
